The concentrate produced at Nyala will be treated in Mbombela (formerly Nelspruit), where Salamander Magnesium’s technologically advanced production facility will be built, and from where the product will be exported.  In addition, the Mbombela facility will include a module for the conversion of the magnesium hydroxide into pharmaceutical grade magnesium products, in a joint initiative with pharmaceutical company, Altis Biologics.

 

The processing facility will initially utilise 3 500 tons of sulphuric acid per month, resulting in the production of 2 600 tons of magnesium hydroxide per month.
